But the war meant women had to take charge during the absence and after the deaths of husbands and fathers. The female gender, with their new found freedoms, would never give up the fight for equality in the workforce. Women did remain in the workforce, proving their capabilities and self reliance, but it was actually more than a century in the future before they were ever recognized for their contributions to the business world.
