Wars have been fought over many matters which may seem trivial to some yet have enough importance to others that they would be willing to die for the nationalistic goals of their leaders. The validity of this statement may not be present in every war but was certainly exercised in the First World War. …venturing from capitalism, nationalism to an arms race, did not completely cause World War One, they did complicate matters once war had begun. If the belligerent states involved in the war had not been so eager to fight a war then it could have been precluded. Sadly this was not the case and something that would not have started a war between so many countries twenty years before did "detonate the powder keg of Europe."
