American Heritage Dictionary defines "vandalism" as the "willful or malicious destruction or defacement of public or private property." Here we note that there are two major acts which characterize vandalism: destruction or the destroying of public or public properties, and defacement or the spoiling of the appearance of any surface area.
The destruction of private property as a negative deviance may have already been treated as such as early as the birth of the science

also a form of judgment. By defining one action as a positive or negative deviance, we are basing it on our own norms and values lived and learned in life. For me, in order for vandalism to become a negative deviance, I believe that writing on public or private property must have no reason at all, and not creative at all. It has no intentions but to grab people's attention, and it serves no purpose.
