Tree Structure and Species Diversity in a Deciduous Forest.

The deciduous forest can be found all over the globe. It is found primarily in eastern North America, middle Europe, southwest Russia, Japan, and China but smaller scale deciduous forests can also be found in southeastern Australia, southern South America, and New Zealand. …The top level is the canopy/overstorey layer, which contains the canopy and foliage of the fully grown trees. Most bird species and squirrels of the deciduous forest inhabit this layer. Other mammals such as raccoons, chipmunks, and opossums can be found climbing trees, but usually do not dwell in the canopies. Bears species have also been known to climb trees, but are rarely spotted doing such and do not make the canopy their home.
