The Ancient Mayan Courts used many forms of art for various purposes, such as lintels for keeping records, carvings telling stories, icons showing social status, or even just an extra lip on the edge of a throne showing royalty. Visual arts were very much a part of the culture in the Royal Courts of the Ancient Maya.
