the Bolsheviks' biggest threat. Though these groups had different aims - some wanted the Tsar back, others a constitutional government - their one common aim was to defeat the Reds. Two parties both wanted control of Russia, and conflict that previously existed was bound to intensify. The three-year Russian Civil War thus developed from the Bolsheviks' wide opposition and the desire for control with both sides, which meant that a struggle for power was inevitable.
