…they kill themselves. In the novel death is a major topic that surrounds Verona throughout the play. Death is used as an example of the consequences of hatred between the two families. All of the deaths that occur in the play are used as a punishment from fate telling the two families that their are a punishment to the fathers of the Capulet and Montague families because they let their quarrel accumulate for so long.
