I would like to examine my thesis sentence in two of Shaw's play, in Mrs Warren' s Profession and Saint Joan. First of all I would like to have a summary and analysis of both dramas and then have a brief look at the types of " New Woman".

reason and not simply for self-indulgence. The conclusion could be drown that Shaw feels that these morals are fine in a perfect society, but since we do not live in one they must be broken occasionally in order to attain a better life, providing that it is done only in moderation.
