…companion for life. George also had to shoot Lennie, which must have been a very difficult thing to do. Lennie was affected because it leads to his death as well. Lastly, Crooks's life was affected by him accepting the racist remarks and not sticking up for what he thought was right. All of the characters in the novel were affected differently by loneliness, which caused them to lose their dreams and hopes for the future.
