Jan Brueghel the elder- Looking at his flowers

…a contrast between the back and fore ground giving a luminous quality to the flowers. Whilst looking at this piece I cannot decide whether I disliked or liked it. With its dark colours that are so typical of 17th century Dutch art and with the amount of time it must have taken to compose the piece with different flowers blooming at different time of the year and its photographic quality it is hard to decide.
