Huckleberry Finn

The novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, tells the story of a young man wishing to escape from his life. He fakes his own death and runs away to travel down the river, and along the way he meets many people and befriends a slave named Jim. In essence, you may see this river as the river of life and as Huck moves along down the river he learns things about himself …

…as he travels the Mississippi river. Through his journey with Jim he learns that he can love a black man as much as he can a white man, and even says so during their journey. Huck also gets a chance to see how other people live and how each class depicts their own way of life. This novel shows many themes and topics that were very prevalent and in the background of the 19th century.
