He provides food, and advises wearing warm furs that the "wrestling" can continue amidst the harsh, cold environment to which Frankenstein has arrived. He was certain that the creature had perished among breaking ice, until he spied him while traversing the ice on a dogsled. The sight is so joyful it brings tears of hope to his eyes.
