This book tells the story of a family with a tough life, and shows the difficulties the adolescents have to go through while trying to grow up. Some of their problems are self-inflicted, some are due to their upbringing, and some of them are due to the way society treats them. Mother Lourdes starts her children's lives on the wrong foot. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to learn more about people who live in poverty and how their world is different, however, it is more of an adult read so children should not read it. This book showed me a little more about how tough it would be to live in that type of a world and how tough it would have been to grow up in it.
