…intelligence, etc. Odysseus and Oedipus are both heroes in that they possess all the qualities needed during that time in Athens, to be a hero. One is not more of a hero than the next. Though they use different qualities for the necessary situation, the qualities are used regardless and should not be discounted. Odysseus is what you would call a true epic hero, while Oedipus is a tragic hero; nonetheless they are both heroes.
