Chapter One Darkness Kills. Kacy ran over the wet pavement a couple blocks from her house when it started to rain. It was coming down pretty hard; currents of water were rushing towards the sewers. The sky was unlit and shaded. Nothing could really be seen through the darkness. Kacy caught herself looking around not frightened but intrigued. Kacy's lungs gave up, and if she ran any further she knew with outmost certainty they would burst. She fell to the pavement hard in defeat. The figure closed in upon her. She was at his mercy. His cold and clammy and covered her mouth and silenced her scream of pain. Everything went black.
