Rodrigo's mounting passion for Desdemona and his jealousy of any man with Desdemona leads him to do anything to get her back. So taking advantage of Rodrigo's vernablity, Iago uses him to kill Cassio, then Iago kills Rodrigo. Rodrigo inability to see Iago's real self leads him loses everything to Iago is land, money , jewels and eventually his life.
