1-Bunker Hill: (1775) happened near Boston. General Gage led his British troops in an attack on the colonial militia. The militia was made up of farmers and merchants and who ever was a free African American. The Americans fought well, but had to retreat when they ran out of ammunition. 5-Yorktown: (1781) Washington & his army arrived here from N.Y. French army led by General de Rochambeau joined the Americans. French blocked the British from aiding Cornwalis. The British army surrendered.
