Today we think of ourselves as people, independent entities distinct from one another. Our bodies are separate, and we as people are separate from one another. significant. The effects of this time period can be easily seen in modern day society. Presently there is a great appreciation for the individual. Modern man is very egocentric, and wants what is best for him. Human rights movements occur constantly, and in our democracy “every vote counts.” The individual has a voice in practically every aspect of society. Without this movement in the Middle Ages our society would not be where it is today.
