WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (1564-1616) Shakespeare was born on or just before April 23, 1564 in Warwickshire town of Stratford. His mother was Mary Arden and his father was John Shakespeare . John was a glove maker and trader in farm produce. He later became the mayor of Stratford. William was third of eight children.
