William Makepeace Thackeray         William Makepeace Thackeray was born on July 18, 1811 in Calcutta, India to Richmond Thackeray and Anne Becher Thackeray. Thackeray was sent to school in England in 1817 two years after his father died. During his work on The Cornhill Magazine, Thackeray wrote two of his lesser known novels, Lovel the Widower and The Adventures of Philip.         William Makepeace Thackeray died on December 24, 1863 shortly after he started the novel Denis Duval. He had many pennames he wrote under such as Michael Angelo Titmarsh and George Savage Fitz-Boodle. He was known as an author of novels that truly define a gentleman and humerous publications in magazines and newspapers.
