I find that if the role of the intellect as a main component in the perception of truth is neglected, then one’s perception of what is factual or fictional in reality will be blurred. The intellect plays the part of at least categorizing thoughts and ideas, which James has done in his attempt to objectively argue that the mystical consciousness is just as valid as the non-mystical consciousness.
