Ur’ Inner Struggles
In James Mitchners’s historical novel The Source Ur’s view of himself and his place in the world changes as he faces confusing inner struggles. At the beginning of the chapter Bee Eater, Ur feels like he knows everything about his life and is in total control of his life; he is, “happy as a man could be” (87).

What happened to his son-in-law? Ur feels like he has no control over anything.
At the end of the chapter “Bee Eater”, Ur realizes he doesn’t know everything about life, and that he might not be in control of his life, and he is curious about what other supernatural powers are out there. The changes Ur experiences in his relationship to his position in life represent the changes humankind experienced throughout the Neolithic Revolution.
