Treaty of Versailles
The Great War was fought due to a variety of reasons. The peace conference and the Treaty of Versailles sought to remedy and prevent such occurrences from happening again. Yet, the Treaty of Versailles wasn’t as effective a tool as was hoped. Instead of attempting at peace it promoted aggravation. It was more of a declaration of the Allies “triumph” over Germany and its allies, than it was a peace settlement.

What was most significant about the Treaty of Versailles was that it did not solve the German problem. Germany was left weak, but intact. Germany’s industrial and military power was only temporarily taken away and its nationalist feelings intensified due to the “insult“.
