The Cowboys made their own rules and lived under their law and thus dressed how they wanted. They did not seek approval from society, only from their fellow outlaws. It seemed like the dirtier, more corrupt, more evil you presented yourself, the better Cowboy you were considered by comrades. This was the Cowboy’s objective; this was what it meant to be a “Cowboy.”
