Tibor Kalman
Tibor Kalman was born in 1949 in Budapest. At the age of eight his family moved to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where Kalman was ridiculed for being an outsider and not knowing the English language (Haber). It was evident from the very beginning that Kalman would not fit in with all the other kids- he was different, not only in his life but in his design work as well.

Tibor Kalman died of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on May 2nd 1999. In the words of Matthew Harber, “he died as he lived and worked: on his own terms and with the generosity of spirit and optimism that touched everyone who knew him”.
