William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” is a good example on how he uses characters to create moods in the story. Also, by moods appearing we can observe how characters handle them. By doing this the characters will show the differences they have between each other. Caliban and Ariel are two characters that are different in many ways although they are under control by one man. This man is referred by the name of Prospero.

In conclusion, it’s easy to see why one is treated one way and the other another way. Ariel has many benefits that can help Prospero and Caliban has nothing to offer him. Only things Caliban can do is show him around that island and do hard labor. If Calibans attitude was improve just a tad, he would be just as a friend as Ariel is and not just some ugly hard working beast.
