there was trust. There was trust on the part of the Native Americans that the Great White Father would not take from them what they had been assured through the years was theirs. The Tee-Hit-Ton believed that the word of the leaders of this “United States of America” was a strong enough bond to establish their ownership and guarantee they would have a indefinite home on this land they loved. The government proved them wrong.
