Edgar Allen Poe was one of America's most talented, and disturbed, writers. His most notable works, The House of Usher, Tell- Tale Heart, and The Raven, brought him moderate success throughout his life and major recognition after his death. Poe's forever yearn yearning for the opposite sex fueled the fire that made some of the most romantic works of his period. …time Caused Poe to write poems such as "Lenore", which was about a man dealing with the death of his wife. Also this brought upon the creation of The Raven. Poe soon there after watch his love disappear. In his own words, he suffered "the horrible, never-ending oscillation between hope and despair." By channeling his anger through The Raven it became a masterpiece and almost acted like therapy to the fierce fire in his heart.
