The Quest

Bodies were falling by the dozen. Melee weapons were clinging against each other or cutting right through the flesh. Arrows were flying everywhere, most missing their intended targets, but some piercing right through the heaviest of armors. And no one could ignore the dazzling lights created by all sorts of magic that was being used; it was a sight to behold. My smallish party of adventurers was holding its won against hoards of Orcs, Demons …

…right. They had found the book and had no more use, in fighting this battle. I could not let this happen. With all of the power that was left in my, I summoned the most destructive spell I knew. Suddenly the dark sky opened up to a brilliant beam of light. The beamed struck right in the middle of the retreating demon horde, destroying them, the book, and every other living being in the vicinity.
