When police first got word that they finally caught the man responsible to the two murders, one officer was quoted as saying: "You're shitin' me, Bernardo?" (Pron, 1995). Unfortunately the arrest came too late, and the damage had been done, but Bernardo was no longer free to continue. Police are human, and make mistakes, unfortunately these mistakes cost two girls their lives.
