The story is based around a window, hence the name “The Open Window”. It all starts with a young girl, named Vera, and a guy named Mr. Nuttel, having a conversation about her aunt who is yet to come onto the scene. The little girl asks the guy if he wants to know why her aunt keeps the one unparticular window open in the middle of October. I just think the author could have put a little more effort into it. “Romance at short notice was her specialty.” (Pg. 819) This was the last line of the story, and it came from absolutely nowhere. It makes no reference to the story and I don’t think it should have been added. “Three years ago, that would be since your sister’s time.” (Pg. 818) Can we please talk English?
