The influence that religion manifested in the indigenous created a new vision of life for them. The European government had its representation too; they were the Spaniards and Portuguese. The Lacandones do not have medical attention, public services and financial support as other communities. In addition they are losing their land, because the government permits that private companies destroy the jungle. These companies use the trees and burn the land. This destruction is not only affecting the Lacandones but the ecosystem as well.
