that was there everyday is an enormous change. Deaths can be very traumatizing. Perhaps that is the reason Holden is so strongly against change, because of his brother Allie’s death.
Holden Caulfield is a flat, static character. His life experiences have been a great influence, and formed Holden into the person he became. He refuses to grow from this point. His experiences have left psychological scars in his mind, and they are outstandingly noticeable.
