…good and ethical. During the Anglo-Saxon period Beowulf was admired as a man of courage even though he killed many people. Contrasting these two stories show how times have changed. The definition of hero is different between the different time periods. The Knight, humble and virtuous, loves God and does anything for him. Beowulf, boastful and arrogant, loves attention, kills many people but dies to save his people. Both men are heroes in their time.
