Toni Morrison was born February 18, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio. Her parents are George Wofford and Ramah Willis Wofford. Toni Morrison grew up in a constantly poor town. After high school Morrison attended Howard University. She received her degree in 1953 and then went on to Cornell University for her masters in English, which she received in 1955 (Toni Morrison 583).
