A standardized test is something administered under controlled conditions specifying where, when, how and for how long people are to respond to the questions or “prompts.” Standardized tests should meet acceptable standards for all aspects of learning. But they don’t, so they must be eliminated. As Gardner explains in The Theory of Multiple Intelligence, “Intelligence is found in varying degrees in every individual” (Gardner 357).
