Dostoevsky has the inimitable ability to portray a character who is morally corrupt to appear ethically sound and amiable. At the same time, he can portray a character which stands for all that is righteous, virtuous, and irreproachable in society, and make him the antagonist of the story. This peerless!
talent makes Crime and Punishment an enthralling literary opus.
