One of the funniest things about this film was its use of props to make up for the lack of dialogue. When the Tramp pulls out a sheet of paper labeled with the four cardinal points and then follows the sheet directions as if it where a compass. This as well as the boot scene were very funny and served to develop the character of the Tramp.
