Why was Prohibition introduced in the USA in 1919?
On the Midnight of January 16, 1920, one of the more favorable and common habits of the American people came to a halt. The 18th Amendment was put into effect and all importing, exporting, selling and manufacturing of, ‘intoxicating liquor’ was put to an end. Strangely enough it was not illegal to buy or drink liquor.

It is very obvious that prohibition was a huge failure, which affected the lives of the American people greatly. There was not a reasonable force to ensure that the Volstead act was kept. The problems that prohibition was
intended to solve, such as crime, grew worse and never returned to what they were like before prohibition began. Not only was prohibition ineffective, it was also damaging to the people it was designed to help.
