The pace of "The Possibility of Evil" creates a suspense that holds the readers attention. Shirley ackson does this by using certain techniques such as foreshadowing. She also creates suspense by Miss Strangeworths thoughts instead of words. One more reason that creates suspense is how Miss Strangeworth's desk is locked and neglected to be mentioned when the sitting room is mentioned . And not to mention the fact that the ladies name is Miss Strangeworth.

So, "Possibility of Evil" has a good pace of suspense and keeps suspense throughout most of the story. With all of the examples about suspense it proves that it keeps the readers attention because you don't really know what is going to happen until it happens.
