The theme of female oppression, and psychological impact of it are frequently seen in literature. The oppressed women in “The Yellow Wallpaper”, and “A Rose for Emily” had their lives ripped from them by their family members looking down upon them. People they had trusted caused severe problems in their life such as the inability to function in the world, difficulty-having relationships, difficulty trusting men, a general contempt for men, and behaviors that were unacceptable in a society.
