In the age of slavery African-American men and women were rarely given the opportunity to express anything that was on their minds. They were though to be unintelligent and inferior to the European descendant white Americans. An anger build inside of him that led him to slightly evolve into the New Negro, who stepped up for his people’s rights. Instead of waiting for an opportunity to present itself the New Negro made it happen.
