An obsession is a feeling, usually irrational, over which a person has little conscious control over. In the story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe the narrator had an obsession with the old man’s eye. Even though the narrator didn’t hate or dislike his boss in any way, he eventually murdered him. The narrator in this story

There isn’t any easy way to prevent any of these actions from taking place. The person who is obsessive is the only one who really has control over weather the situation will become harmful or not. The best way to try to prevent this is not to overlook signs of obsession. Discuss the matter with the person, or find medical or psychiatric attention for them.
