Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria on Jan. 27, 1756 to Leopold
Mozart and his wife, Anna Maria Pert1. Leopold was a successful composer and
violinist, and assistant concertmaster at the Salzburgh court, whose archbishop,
Sigismund von Schrattenbach, encouraged the activities of Leopold and his

poisoning, is thought to have resulted from kidney failure. After a cheap funeral
at St. Steven's Cathedral, he was buried in an unmarked grave at the cemetery of
St. Marax, a Viennese suburb. Mozart's brilliant works influenced some great
composers such as Hyden and Beethoven, and will continue to influence millions
of music lovers all around the world.
