LATINO LITERATURE ESSAY
One of the many themes of Latino Literature is the quest for an individual to define his or her role in the community, while maintaining a separate identity. This means when a person is trying to find out what their role in the community is which is separate from the identity of their family. In “Lather and Nothing Else” the two characters seem to both have some certain roles in their community.
It appears that the quest theme can be identified easily in both of these stories. Both stories had three different kinds of themes in them but the quest theme was found most often. In all Latino literature the quest theme may not be the most prominent theme, but in these two stories in certainly is.
