Kurt Vonnegut, the renowned author has once again produced a wonderful work of fiction that entices the reader to think. Mother Night is the fictional account of one man trying to understand who he is. The story delves deep into the human mind in an effort to understand the essence of human character. The main character, Howard W. Campbell, Jr., a spy during World War II, is on trial in Israel for war crimes committed …

…their character that surfaces for that moment. So when I say I know someone, I know one piece of who they are. Kurt Vonnegut has illustrated this idea with such brilliance. Reading this book offers not only a wonderful story line as well as a book that could substitute into any philosophy class. I would certainly place this work of fiction upon my stack of favorites.
