Either way, the amount of slaves arriving every year increased because owners of slaves wanted to make and sell more and more products such as sugar and luxury items. So, the real reason slavery existed so long was the greed of European Americans. All they thought of was the amount of money they could receive if they produced a large amount of goods in a short time.
