Mary Rowlandson
Pre-American Romantic writers, such as Anne Bradstreet do not tend towards the gothic in their writings of religion and religious elements. Although God is mysterious to Bradstreet, she maintains certain characteristics and aspects expected of her and her religion. She keeps her text true to their beliefs. Rowlandson knows that, that promise is that he will be with her throughout her troubles.
