Webster’s dictionary defines man as “A human being; a hominid having an
opposable thumb, the ability to make and use specialized tools, articulate speech, and a
highly developed brain...” This definition merely describes the physical features of
mankind but it does not truly define man. Authors and philosophers have tried for
centuries to define human behavior but they all seem to have a different definition and a

Man is capable of great destruction as well as great beauty. In fact, man is capable
of anything and nothing. In most simple of words, man is what he chooses to be and we
can see that as our greatest gift or our greatest curse because the future of man is in its
own hands and it is up to him to decide what to do with it.
