Having a bad heart condition Mrs. Mallard is told very sensitively that her husband has been killed in a train wreck. After weeping once she cries no more and retires to her bedroom. She longed so much to be free and her own being and would have accomplished just that if her husband had indeed been dead. Mrs. Mallard’s life definitely had its ups and downs but in the end she got what she had always desired life (or death, in this case) with out her husband.
